    BYOND KEY: LeJack
    IC NAME: Jack Entrarie
PICK THREE THREE DIGIT NUMBERS THAT YOU LIKE (EXAMPLE: 079, 009, 356): 037 661 004
HAVE YOU EVER USED A DIFFERENT BYOND KEY ON ONE OF OUR SERVERS, AND IF SO, WHAT WAS IT AND WHY DID YOU CHANGE IT? - (THIS QUESTION ADDED BY HATTRICK): I have not. This is my only Byond key.
HAVE YOU EVER BEEN BANNED FROM OUR SERVER? EXPLAIN: I have never been banned from any SS13 server. Even Yog.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU PLAYED SS13?: Approximately 2 years.
WHAT DOES HAVING AUTHORITY MEAN TO YOU?: Authority, to me, means trust. Trust placed in an individual, by many, to be objective, compassionate, dutiful, and professional. It is the greatest of responsibilities. If authority proves itself unfit of the public's trust, it invites lawlessness.
HOW OFTEN DO YOU PLAY SECURITY?: Almost exclusively, until very recently on TG.
OH A SCALE OF ONE TO TEN HOW WOULD YOU RATE YOURSELF WHEN YOU ARE PLAYING A NORMAL SECURITY OFFICER? EXPLAIN: 8 : I'm calm, objective, act on evidence, and understand escalation of force intuitively. However, sometimes while overwhelmed with information or prisoners to process, I can get tunnel vision. This leads to me occasionally missing comms. I should point out that I opt for warden 90% of the time.
HOW MUCH DO YOU LIKE XENOMORPHS?: H.R. Giger influences my work on a daily basis, so I would have to say I like them quite a lot.
WHAT IS THE ROLE OF SECURITY ON THE STATION?: Security's role on the station is to safeguard the crew's well-being, and corporate property/interests.
ANSWER THESE HYPOTHETICAL SITUATION AS HONESTLY AS YOU CAN ASSUMING YOU WERE PLAYING AS SECURITY, HOW YOU WOULD HANDLE IT:
*You are walking down a corridor of the station when you see a clown slip someone on a banana and pull their jump suit off and laugh, how would you handle this*: I would approach the clown and tell him to give the jumpsuit back. If he complies, I would let him off with a warning, and make a note of it on his profile. If he refuses, I would first try to reason with him, giving him the option of compliance or theft and possibly resisting charges. Worst case scenario, this situation would warrant a flash, which would not be ideal. I would rather be patrolling for real problems, opposed to processing someone for 3 minutes for something that could have been settled in the hallway.
*You are sitting in the bar having a light drink during a break when you hear someone yell about a xenomorph in the library. You run there and find an alien eating the librarian, what do you do?*: I would call for backup immediately, and try to keep eyes on it. I would be no match for it with a stun baton, so I would keep my distance. Keeping track of its whereabouts until backup arrives, would be my priority.
*You are standing in security and you see the head of security being especially rough with a prisoner in a cell, what would you do?*: I express my concerns to the HOS immediately. If it was severe, or pattern behavior, I would inform the captain. If it came to down right brutalizing people under the color of law, I would detain the HOS until one of the other heads of staff could intervene.
ARE YOU CURRENTLY AN ADMIN, AND IF NOT-MIGHT YOU BE INTERESTED IN ADMINSHIP IN THE FUTURE?: I am not, and would not be interested.
GIVE US ONE HONEST SITUATION WHERE YOU WERE PLAYING AS SECURITY AND DID SOMETHING MEMORABLE: Once upon a time, on yogstation, Flatoftheblade was the HOS and I was the warden. I believe it was a rev round, and we had very few officers. I was managing 3 prisoners in perma, on top of normal processing. I stepped out of perma for a few minutes to deal with something, and when I popped back in to check on them, 2 engineers in EVA had broken into perma, releasing the prisoners into the perma processing area. I call for back, firefight ensues (queue classical music). I put down and detained all 5 of them, without harming a single one, before backup arrived. Flatoftheblade awarded me with the Medal of Valor (?) which I will never forget.
CAKE OR PIE? EXPLAIN IN AS MUCH DETAIL AS POSSIBLE: Pie : Cake is sweet while pie can be both sweet and succulent. Plus, I'd do a no hardsuit EVA to get at some pumpkin pie if it came down to it.

I'd like to add that I realize none of you have any idea who I am, as I'm very new to LLA. I'm Impressed by Perseus, and believe I would be a good addition, and look forward to proving myself to you all.

  3. Right well, Jack was my trusty warden dating way back to my Yog days a year and a half ago. Obviously I am very biased, but I'm thrilled he put an app in and am confident that the would fit in well with Perseus. I look forward to him making a home on LLA and the Perseus evaluating him, and possibly working with him in a blue jumpsuit soon enough.

I hope Jack doesn't mind me sharing, when he was venting to me personally about an experience on another server that I won't name, long before he had heard of Perseus, he said "I got screamed at by the crew for 2 rounds after the fact because I wouldn't execute someone on hearsay." He's goodsec even when it isn't popular to be goodsec.

I have full confidence in Jack and am sure he will prove himself worthy. +1

We'll be watching closely. Generally, most applicants have a bit of time in the community before they apply.

    Overall, a well written application.

Although, I call into question your choice of pies.

  5. I will take full responsibility if you feel this is a bit "early." He explicitly asked me if he should apply right away or wait and I told him to apply early so people will keep an eye out for him.

Also I would like to point out that he rocked on his first day on LLA. Him, torquey and I shut down a nuke op crew, then the next round he apprehended me when I was a traitor (while managing his prisoners as always).

Maybe you should let him explain that Flat. ;)

LeJack if you'd like to can you recall that round to us? It would be good to know how you handled a hectic situation such as Nuke Ops.

    I question it as well.

  7. Hey, we're encouraged to provide feedback when we see good security work from applicants, are we not?

People don't really want to toot their own horns and go "I was the most robust and ethical HoS ever last round" without prompting, and they would probably get ridiculed if they did. ;)

    Certainly.
The first notable event for me was the clown "Slippy" being brought in. He was accused of breaking into the captain's office and stealing his spare ID, which I found on him, in interrogation, and returned. Slippy freely admitted to his crimes, and cooperated fully. I consulted the captain, and we both agreed 500 points of hard labor was in order. I then processed Slippy, and dropped him off at the labor camp.
Shortly after I got back to the brig, all hell broke loose. The nuke team blew the hull open and took most of the armory with it. There was a small skirmish in the processing area, and the nuke team fell back to the break room. Two other officers, and myself pursued. The fire fight was messy, I believe there was some friendly fire. Luckily, when the dust settled, all of the sydies were dead, and all of the sec officers remained.
At this point the captain (If I remember) declared that he had the disk, and asked that we escort him to the bridge. We met no further resistance, and linked up with some Perseus personnel in the captains office. The shuttle was called, and I remained there for a time to guard the captain, but my window to retrieve Slippy from labor was closing. So I excused myself and made my way to the labor camp.
Upon arriving, Slippy continued to cooperate, met me at the shuttle, and allowed me to cuff him. I made sure he had emergency internals before we left, as the brig was in pretty bad shape at this point. We arrive back at the brig, and I realize my air supply is very low. Judging off of the damage to the brig, my low air supply, and our limited time frame, I decided to take Slippy to the sec escape shuttle, as I was uncertain of our ability to reach the main shuttle. I realize that is likely against procedure, however, Slippy was still in my custody, and I felt it was our best bet at survival.
This turned out to be wrong due to a unfortunate series of events. Right as the shuttle is about to depart, my air gives out, and I faint, just as two officers open the airlock and see Slippy standing over me. The misplaced retribution was swift. Had I taken Slippy to the main shuttle, we both would have probably survived, but hindsight is always 20/20.

I stand, unwaveringly, by my choice in pies. For me, the cake deal breaker is its lack of delicious crust.

  9. Just to clarify, we didn't hurt Slippy at all!

I think something was bugged. I had internals on, Slippy, torquey and I all fell over dead after opening the pod and discovering you for some strange reason though! Aside from the weird conclusion, that round was pretty badass and we stomped the nuke ops, but I appreciate you being concerned about the welfare of your prisoner.

Oh, good! It did seem strange. I was wondering how you two didn't make it onto the shuttle. I couldn't see much.

This is a great story. Compelling and rich. As are pumpkin pies. If true, this story alone is enough to earn you instant Perseushood. Please. Everyone. Take note of this sort of clarity of thought and good faith action.

"Myself" is reflexive, which means you only get to use it if you are mentioned earlier in that sentence. This is enough to permanently blackball you from Perseus.

    Let's call it even.
You're lucky you like pumpkin pie, son.

I don't think I've ever seen you before, I'll need to keep an eye out for you. I'm a bit wary, however, with how quickly you've made a Perseus application.

  15. Oh Hatty, with your emphasis on spelling and grammar, how did Cactus ever earn his stripes? ;)

Again, that's my fault. Although I stand by encouraging him, and anyone for that matter, to apply earlier rather than later. It will let us know to watch.

I have disgraced myself (<----) and goodsec everywhere.

And thank you for the kind words.

As you should be. I'm in no hurry, and look forward to proving myself over the coming months.

So, after playing a round with Jack. I was following him into science where it looked like toxins was emagged into, so to see how he reacted, I threw a EMP grenade at him, he didn't react much to it and I just said hello, and he asked if I saw who emagged it, I said I don't know and left. Later on in the round Him, the detective and Cy were in toxins I presume to investigate it further. So I asked Cy for his Stun baton which he gave, and Stunned both Jack and the detective, dropping the baton right after, Jack got up and flashed/cuffed me, taking me to the brig.
Once we got to the brig he stripped me of all the important things such as tool-belt and such, but left out my Welding helmet. Once he was done he buckled me to the bed and uncuffed me, as soon as he did I stood up disarming him, taking the flash and breaking it by using it to much. then he disarmed me and left, after Titus(Flat) tried to use the flash button I put the mask on and it didn't work, then Jack or Titus walked into the room with a stun baton where I disarmed and took one down with the baton, and the other took me down.

Tl/dr- Jack needs to work on processing and dealing with prisoners.

Yes, and thank you for the feed back.

Normally I would address that. The crew was going nuts in the hallway, and I was there to let the detective in. I felt Kate using a EMP to provoke me was low priority. Stunning me and the detective, on the other hand, needed to be addressed immediately.

I've developed a bad habit of flashing inmates right as the cuffs come off. This I am working on. The welding mask I straight up forgot under pressure.

That was Titus, trying to give me a hand. Luckily I was able to stun you, and my forgetting to take your welding mask didn't continue to snowball.

Also, I mentioned before that I can get tunnel vision and miss comms. I'd like to add that this is partially do to my colorblindness. The station wide and security channels look identical to me, and this complicates picking out important information when comms get crazy. I'm looking into customizing the channel colors on my end to correct this.
  19. I noticed that you still had the welding helmet after being brigged and you were hitting the windows with it I believe. I recognized that it needed to be removed from you ASAP, so I tried to use the cell flasher on you but you got it on before I could. I entered the cell with a baton and you disarmed and stunned me, Jack came in and stunned you. In retrospect I should have just set a flashbang down outside your cell and followed up with a stunbaton hit after you went down but I had a brainfart in the moment.

That was an all around mess and mistakes were made by both Jack and I. Just wanted to clarify that at that specific part of the brigging I was the one who you robusted, since you weren't sure.

Hey, man. I said that I was going to comment a few days ago, had forgotten...

So I've been playing with/watching jack pretty often as of late, and hes been extremely professional and competent, from what I've witnessed.

He has always initiated with verbals. He attempts to make verbal contact two or three times if the circumstances allow for it, only resorting to stunning when its necessary.
He maintains professionalism under every circumstance that I've seen.

This is one of the times I've interacted with him:
I was a chaplain, and managed to get ahold of some stolen gear. Word of this gets out to security, and Jack makes contact with me over the radio. He then asks me to come to security for questioning, I don't respond due to having the illicit gear, was attempting to ditch it.
Jack finds me in person, asks me to follow him to sec, I agree, but then bail on him as we near the sec hallway.
I duck into the bathrooms, in an attempt to ditch the items, he pursues. After a bit more talking, Jack attempts to cuff me. I push him back, he tries again.
I then pull out a baton, stun him, and flee. Jack gets up and follows me, but I hid in a disposals unit.

In this situation, I actually feel as if Jack was a bit too hesitant to use force. While I appreciate him not being stun-happy and professional, my one complaint would be that he is actually a bit too lenient with use of force.

Overall, Jack has the potential to be a great member of perc, he has my support.
